The "I AM" Series
The "I Am" Series, being our first widespread community outreach and involvement project, is a culmination of photographs that depict sexual assault survivors and supporters of sexual assault survivors. Often, survivors feel as if their sexual assault defines them--a misconception that is perpetuated by the negative stigma surrounding sexual assault. To combat this, The "I Am" Series focuses on displaying the diversity of those affected by sexual assault, and shows that it does not define them. First photographed in Las Cruces, New Mexico by the talented teen photographer Santana Ochoa (@santanaochoa on Instagram), The "I Am" Series illustrates the solidarity found in sexual assault survivors and their supporters. With several participants of nearly all ages, races, genders, and backgrounds, The "I Am" Series allows them all a platform for their voices to be heard.
